Migouri Project
What is the Migouri Project?
This is a participative manifesto, where we - the strange people - will try to find a way to speak about architecture and express our personal and common interests. Removing the coldness, the brutal functionalism of modern architecture and no being afraid of ornaments.
Our quest will be to forge a future, not always realistically, neither financially nor structurally, but we will strive for new aesthetics, to project a vision of architecture that does not reflect a blatant disregard for beauty.
Migouri is a patois word from the Mauges region of France which meaning is to mix. We strive to mix various influences, both past and present, and integrating those in the landscape.
Where we're at
So, we're just starting, there's a lot of definition to make, thinking about the examples we want to shape, the forms, the challenges and the scope. Where we are, for now, is just starting up. More to come.
Who we are
General Principles
This is the manifesto for the Migouri Project
- Beauty matters: Design with aesthetic principles; themes, rhythm, micro and macro scales
- Function matters too: Buildings are made for people, so design smartly, purposfully, do not explain away, always give design a function.
- Do not conquer nature, embrace it: Try to fell the environment, be human sized, be restrained, be elegant, be smart, be energy efficient; get a positive outlook on nature and the surroundings.
- Gardens are a part of design: Gardens for all! They make life, give life and can be functional to deal with light, seasons and water treatment.
- Design for you: it is so obvious that architects of the past century have designed things they would never ever set a foot in (Le Corbusier, I'm looking at you right now). Migouri designers have to design places they would fell comfortable living in for years. That implies good function and design, but also, good material, that ages well and beautifully.
